ABOUT THE TOUR:

Ladakh and Kashmir, once a perfect tour route very much popular in  1970s and 80s it a worth journey that one can take, giving the beauty and contrast of the both the world, one with inhospitable barren mountains, dry and scarce vegetation with Buddhist culture where as the other is lush green with beautiful lakes and a Muslim culture. This overland journey passes through high mountain passes with dramatic terrains ever changing with every mile you map.

DAY 01:         DELHI-LEH: Arrive Leh from Delhi by morning flight. On arrival met by representative at the airport and transfer to Hotel.  Day complete rest to acclimatize to the high altitude and avoid High Altitude Sickness / Mountain sickness (Leh: 11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs).  Buffet lunch at the hotel. Evening walk to Leh Bazaar to get to know the area. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.

DAY 02:         MONASTERIES OF INDUS VALLEY TOUR: Morning after breakfast at the hotel leave by car with packed lunch for a sightseeing tour of Shey, Thiksey and  Hemis monasteries. Also visit Stok Palace (Museum and Royal Residence). On the way back stop by at Sindhu Ghat. Dinner and Overnight at the hotel in Leh.

DAY 03:        NUBRA VALLEY SAFARI OVER THE WORLD’S HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD: ( 125 Kms / 4-5 Hrs) Morning after an early breakfast at the hotel drive to Nubra Valley over the high pass of Khardung-la Top highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 ft. / 5602 Mtrs. Visit Deskit and Hunder monastery, Enjoy a double hump Bacterian camel safari.  Later check-in at Lharimo North camp at Tiger for the dinner and overnight.

DAY 04:         EXPOLORE NUBRA SIGHTSEEING TOUR:  Leave very early morning with packed breakfast to meet with the morning prayer ceremony at Samstanling monastery performed by an assembly of monk at sunrise. Later visit Panamic hot spring. The sulphur hot spring has a medicinal benefit for skin and several diseases.  Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 05:           NUBRA-LEH: Morning after breakfast at the camp drive back to Leh. Hot buffet lunch at the hotel. Afternoon explore the small Leh Bazaar to buy souvenirs etc. Or walk up to the Shanti Stupa (Japanese temple) to have a panoramic view of the entire Leh, the Stok Kangri range of snowcapped mountains and a magnificent Sun Set. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.

DAY 06:         LEH-ALCHI: (65 KMS / 1.5 HRS): TRAVERSING THE VALLEY OF INDUS: Drive from Leh to Alchi which houses the 11^th century ancient monastery with thousand Buddha wall fresco and statues. Enroute visit Liker monastery. Hot Buffet lunch at the camp / Hotel. After lunch visit Rizong monastery nestled deep in the mountains and known for meditation caves. Also visit the Chulichan nunnery nearby. Dinner and overnight at hotel / camp at Alchi village.

DAY 07:         ALCHI-KARGIL:  (135 KMS / 06 HRS): FAREWELL TO THE MSYTRY LAND: Drive from Alchi to Kargil (Alt. 2704 Mtrs), enroute visit Lamayuru monastery surrounding of which has the famous lunar landscape. A slow mountain drive encounters enormous zig-zag turns up and down the mountain pass. Dinner and overnight the hotel in Kargil.

DAY 08:         KARGIL-SRINAGAR: (204 KSM / 08 HRS): FROM THE BARREN TO THE BEAUTY LUSH GREEN: Morning after breakfast at the hotel drive with packed-lunch to Srinagar (Kashmir) over the high pass of Zogila. On the way stop by Sonmarg. Sonmarg is 80 km north-east of Srinagar and at an altitude of 2743 m. Popularly known as the 'Meadow of Gold' this place is strewn with the loveliest of alpine flowers and surrounded by mountains mantled in fir and pine. On arrival check-in at the Deluxe houseboat at Dal Lake. Dinner and overnight at the Houseboat.

DAY 09:         SRINAGAR: THE HEAVEN ON EARTH TOUR:Morning visit the famous floating market at the Lake and  leave for a full day tour of Mughal Gardens. Evening enjoy a Shikara ride at the Dal Lake. Dinner and overnight at the Houseboat at Dal Lake.

DAY 10:         GULMARG THE MEADOW OF FLOWERS TOUR: Morning after breakfast leave for a day tour of Gulmarg. The large meadow of Gulmarg is 52 km south-west of Srinagar at 2730 Mtrs. Gulmarg displays a breathtaking panoramic view of the whole Vale of Kashmir and of Nanga Parbat; one of the highest peaks (26,660 feet [8,126 meters]) of both the Himalayas and the world. The valley and mountains may be viewed from various lookout points on Gulmarg’s Circular Path. The resort is reputed to contain the world’s highest golf course; it also has excellent facilities for tennis, skiing, and polo. Return back to houseboat for the dinner and overnight.

DAY 11:         SRINAGAR-DELHI-HOME: On time departure transfer to the airport in Srinagar to board the onward flight-connect flight to home
