Every year village of Hemis comes alive with the festival of the monastery when people from allover the Ladakh gather here to celebrate and witness the famous Mask dance performed by monk. Every 12th year the grand “Thanka Painting” is displayed
SCHEDULED ITINERARY:
25th June: Delhi:
Arrive New Delhi International airport from Home. Today depending upon your flight timings, if allowed we shall do a sightseeing of New Delhi and Old Delhi historic monuments. Overnight hotel in Delhi.
26th june: Delhi-Leh:
Morning after an early breakfast check-out hotel around 3 am to board the flight to Leh which leave around 5 am. The flight to Leh takes about 01:15 Hrs. The magnificent flight takes you over the Ladakh and Zanskar ranges of mountains with breathtaking views of huge glaciers and eye to eye with several known mighty peaks. Its almost a “flight Sightseeing. You land and one of the highest airport of the world at an altitude of 3505 Meters above sea level. On arrival met by representative and transfer to hotel. Day complete rest to acclimatize to the high altitude and avoid mountain sickness. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
27th June: Leh:
Morning after breakfast proceed for sightseeing of Old Leh Town, the Leh Palace and Avalokiteshvara temple. Buffet lunch at the hotel. After lunch proceed to visit the Spituk monastery. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Delhi.
28th June: Leh: Morning introduction to the traditional Tibetan Medicine - (probably with the Ladakhi traditional doctor and activist for the rights of the nuns, Ani Palmo (Amchi)) afternoon walk to Shanti Stupa through Sankar village.. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
29th June: HEMIS FESTIVAL: Full day witness the Hemis festival at Hemis Monastery. Today is the opening ceremony day. See the monks dance In Masks, people from allover the Ladakh near and far gather today At their traditional best dress to witness this festival.

30th June: HEMIS FESTIVAL: Today is the closing day of the Hemis Festival as interesting as the opening, today is the celebration of victory over the evil, Mask Dance and some interstinng ancient rituals. Overnight hotel in Leh.
01st July: Leh-Alchi:
Morning after breakfast at the hotel, check-out and drive to Alchi. On arrival at Alchi check-in the Monastery camp. Visit the 1000 year old Alchi Shrine. Lunch at the camp and drive to Lamayuru. Dinner and overnight at the camp in Alchi.
02nd July: Alchi:
Morning after breakfast at the camp, leave to visit the Rizong monastery and Chulichan nunnery. If on wish can walk upto the monastery up hill about 1 hrs. Dinner and overnight at the camp at Alchi.
03rd July: Alchi-Mangyu-Leh:
Morning after breakfast at the camp, drive with picnic lunch to Mangyu bridge and walk to the beautiful village of Mangyu (02 Hrs upwards). Full day at the village to observe village life style and interact with the local people. Also visit the 1000 year old shrine. Evening walk back to Mangyu bridge (01 Hrs downwards). Pickup and drive to Leh.
04th July: Spituk to Zingchen 3700 m (4-5 hours):
Our walk begins along an old jeep road on very dry and exposed land, so water and protection against the sun are important! After 3 hours the landscape becomes greener as we go into the Zingchen Valley, where the Rumbak river flows into the Indus. Our camp is in the small village of Zingchen, which means 'big field', where there are just two houses. The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the view and maybe even a dip in the river
05th July:. Zingchen to Rumbak 3900 m (3-4 hours):
Today we enter Hemis National Park, home to the famous Snow Leopard, Blue Sheep, Ladakhi Urial (a type of goat), great Tibetan sheep (Arghali), red fox, Tibetan wolf, wild dog (dhole), Lynx, marmot and mountain hare. We start to climb gradually up to village of Rumbak, through a beautiful gorge from which the Stok peaks come into view from time to time. Rumbak is known as a place to see and research on the magnificent Himalayan snow leopard. To enquire click here
06th July: Rumbak to Mankarmo 4200 m via Stok la 4900 m(5 -6 hrs):
The trail up to the base of Stok la (4900 m) starts fairly gradual but becomes steeper as we approach the pass. Views of the Indus valley and remarkable colorful rock formations of Stok la will diminish the hardship of the our climb. We descend along the mountainside up and down until we reach some stone houses, use by the Stok villagers for summer pasture. Our campsite at Mankarmo is also a first camp for the Stok Kangri approach
07th July: Mankarmo to Stok (3-4 hrs)-Leh
After breakfast, we start descending to Stok village through a narrow valley of beautiful rock patterns. It is possible to visit the Stok palace; which is currently a museum was built in 1840 to house the Ladakhi royal family after the Dogra army had exiled them.
The drive to Leh is about 30 minutes
08th July: Leh: Day free to explore the Leh town on your own. Overnight hotel in Leh.
09th July: Leh: Full day sightseeing of Takthok, Chemrey and Sakti village, Walk through the village and see the local lifestyle. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
10th July: Leh: Early morning leave hotel to meet with the morning prayer ceremony at the Thiksey monastery, performed by an assembly of monks. Breakfast at the monastery restaurant and proceed to Hemis and walk to the ancient meditation caves at Gotsang ( 1.5 hrs walk). On way back to Leh visit Shey palace. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
11th July: Leh: Today we drive to the small village of Matho, visit to village house and people. Visit the TSECHEN school. . Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Leh.
12th July: Leh-Delhi:
On time departure transfer to Leh airport to fly Delhi. On arrival met by representative and transfer to hotel.
